Spearheaded by Bollywood martial arts trainer Chitah Yajness Shetty, women in 12 districts of Chhattisgarh will begin learning self defence programs from May and it will continue through-out June 2013 and the final schedule of the program 1, 2 & 3RD JUNE 2013. Yajness's outfit Chitah Jeet Kune Do Global Sports Federation's India wide initiative has now garnered support from various organizations. For the state of Chhattisgarh, Jindal Steel & Power has come forward along with All India Human Right Association, Times Foundation, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chattisgarh Bengali Samaj & Vikas committee as well as State and district governments.
Around 8000 women have so far registered for the program with the aid of women groups and there has been considerable interest from the districts of Korda, Bilaspur, Mahumund, Konda Gaon, Raipur, Jahangir and Raigarh. The self defense program is specially designed for ladies to deal with eve teasers, molestation, sexual assault and rape.
Chitah Yajness Shetty say's "my local teams will work towards making the program effective and useful for each and every individual woman attending it. This will definitely be a motivator for lakhs of other women of the area who will hear about it with help of promotion and publicity support by the well-wishers." Yajness's local team consists of 25 trainers.
The program aims to prepare women, both mentally and physically to face any adverse situation at home, road, train, bus or anywhere. The program will also make general improvements in health and mental fitness. The modules include mind and body; meditation and motivation; self defence; and movements (Katas). The techniques will help a woman combat against a group consisting up to 4 - 6 persons.
