One day Hunger strike held against railways and government on Gandhiji's death anniversary

Mumbai.President of Malad (West) based NGO ‘Gandhi Vichar Manch’ organised a hunger strike against railways and government on 30th January 2013, for improving public safety. It was observed near Malad Station – West. The focus on passenger safety also marked the Gandhiji's death anniversary  bserved as Martyrs' Day in India. The manch is demanding automatic doors in Mumbai locals to avoid deaths.

Since past two Manmohan Gupta has been trying to make government see the issues relating to Mumbai locals. He has written many letters, but the govt. seems to be busy earning from railways and not give facilities. For instance, Manmohan Gupta has been asking for automatic doors for the Mumbai locals like the ones on Mono Rail. Platforms have to be spruced up and lifts installed for old and the physically challenged. More than 1500 people have died in past 8 months while commuting. Automatic door would have ensured no deaths and so many families would have not been destroyed. When a wage earning person dies, what will the family do?

Government is only increasing the train fares without giving facilities says Manmohan Gupta. “Why can’t they build a railway over bridge over railway lines?
(Railway track) of all local trains lines for increase a train and railway track. As Govt. starting metro train by build over bridge over road and run train services.”

He was joined by Babulal Agrawal, Radhe Shyam Diwedi, Amarnath Diwedi, Mithilesh Mishra, Ram Avatar, V.P. Ramaya, Jai Prakash Pandey, Priti Singh etc.
